A Journey Through Maharashtra On The Deccan Odyssey Luxury Train

Posted on April 18th, by Peter Parkorr in India, Video Adventures. No Comments

India, India, India.… It can be intimidating, but it can also be so inviting. Here is an example of the friendly India I love and will go back to time and again… my latest video showing a week-long tour through Maharashtra, aboard the Deccan Odyssey luxury train.
Named after the Deccan Plain that it crosses, the tour starts in Mumbai, takes in World Heritage sites like Ajanta  and Ellora (which are right up there with – and probably a darn sight better than – the Taj Mahal and others) as well as visiting Goa and a host of other items.

For anyone in need of a large dose of pure inspiration, here it is. Road to Free Rider is a great video made by Oli Lyon and Nathan Murphy, a couple of young climbers. Featuring the expert pasta maker Sfoglina Luisa of Bologna making fresh pasta by hand, fellow tourists making their own pizzas on a food tour of Campo di Fiori in Rome, and some scenes from the lovely towns of Piacenza and Bobbio in Emilia Romagna.…

I’ve been to my fair share of romantic places. From wandering the cobbled streets of Paris, to hot chocolate at sunset on the top of California’s Big Sur, and drinking Champagne cocktails on the 35th floor of a quiet candle lit bar in Tokyo. Still, I’ve never really felt the location was anything more than just a backdrop to the company….

Posted on January 26th, by Peter Parkorr in Britain, Scotland, Video Adventures. 5 comments

Have you ever been to a Scottish celebration of Hogmanay? They really know how to mark an occasion up there. It’s a great way to welcome in the New Year, and here’s my first video from this year’s events to show you why. Five Scottish pipe bands and 26 Up Helly Aa Vikings from the Shetlands lead over 35,000 people and 7,000 torches… through the streets of Edinburgh up to Calton Hill in the Hogmanay Torchlight Procession 2012.
