I spent a few days in Chennai on my recent trip to India, and really enjoyed staying in the Triplicane district. Not wanting to do much touristy stuff, I was quite happy getting some work done in my hotel, and then take little wanders about the nearby streets during the mornings or evenings to get some good pictures of the Triplicane locals….
Happy Photo Friday! The first thing to appear on the site from my recent time in Bologna is… Pasta!
I had my first attempt at handmade Italian pasta with expert instruction for making my own Tortellone (big tortelli) and Tortellini (little tortelli) from sfoligna Luisa…. A ‘sfoglina’ is to pasta what a master baker is to bread, so I learnt the basics from her quickly.
Happy Photo Monday née Friday! This birds eye view is of a little cluster of rustic Sicilian cottages and farm buildings, in the dead centre of Sicily near Resuttano. It is the privately owned Borgo Tudia, a 200 hectare estate that is home to one of my WWOOF hosts in Sicily at the start of last year.
They grow olives which they sell as Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and sell Nero D’Avola red wine from grapes grown on the estate.…
Happy Photo Friday! This week saw the worlds first International Day of Happiness, as orchestrated by the UN, and supported by the Happiness 1st Institute and the International Society of Happiness Professionals. Honestly, just hearing of the existence of these organisations brought a smile to my face.
So today’s photograph comes from a memory that always makes me happy…, a late night tuk tuk race through the rainy streets of Bangkok back in 2007.

This bold imposing structure is open to the public, and the high walkway around the castle walls is true to it’s original design. There are no handrails to protect you from dropping into the central courtyard – but it does have great views across to the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza.…
