Eilean Donan Castle At Dusk, Loch Duich

Sitting at the edge of Loch Duich, Eilean Donan Castle in the Highlands of Scotland was destroyed in 1715. Just over 200 years later it was rebuilt to within 98% accuracy of the original castle, supposedly thanks to drawings made by the clerk of works, Farquhar Macrae, who had visions of the restored castle in a dream. With less than a fortnight of 2012 left, and only one day until the ‘end of the world’ according to the Mayan calendar, I’m getting prepared to break in the New Year in style. The ‘end of the world’ is a complete misnomer, actually being the predicted date of a new and better age for humanity (we’ll see), so I’ve got plans to see out the old year and bring in the new at Edinburghs Hogmanay celebrations.…
