Pure Inspiration on Film: The Road to Free Rider

Posted on January 10th, by Peter Parkorr in North America, Video Adventures. 1 Comment
For anyone in need of a large dose of pure inspiration, here it is. Road to Free Rider is a great video made by Oli Lyon and Nathan Murphy, a couple of young climbers. But almost as interesting as the extreme sport is Oli’s intro to the film. It will certainly resonate with a lot of people who make daily sacrifices to be able to do something different or something that they love.…

Going Home To A Sligo That I Didn’t Know Existed

Today I’m posting some very brief highlights of a great road trip along the Wild Atlantic Way in the North West of Ireland, and Sligo specifically. My mum is going to love this post. Steady, Mum. Some observers’ highlights of the trip (which was part of TBEX Dublin) have already reached the papers and radio stations here, and I have such fantastic recordings to reveal over the coming days, but first here’s a touch of the magic I felt so far, and the reasons why… Some background for you: Half of my family is Irish, and most of the generation above me (on my mothers side) either grew up in Sligo or spent a lot of time there, in the place that my grandparents lived for the last few decades.…

However, when I visited Malta and Gozo, I witnessed another attack on the islands that still goes on today.…

A quick photo for you today from a winter well spent in deep snowy Japan. That’s right! You can snowboard in Japan, and I had a whole ski season of fun in snowboarder’s Mecca and powder heaven Niseko, on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. Powder hounds from all over the world come here to experience the very unique style of snowboarding in Niseko.…

WWOOFing in Sicily at Borgo Tudia

Posted on April 15th, by Peter Parkorr in Italy, Picture Perfect, Sicily. No Comments
Once upon a time I went WWOOFing in Sicily. This birds eye view is of a little cluster of rustic Sicilian cottages and farm buildings, in the dead centre of Sicily near Resuttano. It is the privately owned Borgo Tudia, a 200 hectare estate that is home to one of my WWOOF hosts in Sicily at the start of last year.…
